Who controls your data

The data controller is Rosary LLC, a limited liability company registered in Delaware, United States, which publishes Astrolize. Wherever this policy says "we", it means Rosary LLC.

Registered address: 131 Continental Dr, Suite 305, Newark, DE 19713, United States. For anything about your data, write to [email protected]. That reaches us faster than post.

The short version

Your charts never leave your Mac. Everything you enter in the app (birth data, notes, settings) stays in a local database and is never transmitted to us.

We hold personal data in exactly one situation: you bought Astrolize directly from this website. Then we hold your email address, a record of the purchase, and which Macs your licence is activated on. Buying through the Mac App Store instead means we hold nothing at all.

There is no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no profiling anywhere in the app or on this site.

The Astrolize app

All charts, birth data, notes and settings are stored in a sandboxed local database on your Mac. This includes any third party whose chart you cast. None of it is transmitted to us, and the app has no cloud sync and no telemetry.

Location search uses Apple geocoding services on your Mac to turn a typed place name into coordinates; those lookups are handled by Apple under the Apple privacy policy and are not visible to us.

The version downloaded directly from this website contacts astrolize.app to activate and periodically re-check your licence. Those requests carry your licence key, the name of the Mac as set in System Settings, the app version, and a device identifier. The device identifier is a one-way SHA-256 hash computed on your Mac: we receive the hash, never the underlying hardware identifier, and we cannot reverse it. It exists only to count how many Macs a licence is active on. Between checks the app works fully offline.

The version installed from the Mac App Store does none of this. Apple has already established that you own it, so that build never contacts our licensing service and sends us nothing.

The app also checks astrolize.app for a newer version. That request sends no information about you or your Mac.

The astrolize.app website

Browsing the marketing pages sets no cookies and runs no analytics scripts. There are no third-party trackers anywhere on this site.

If you sign in, we set one essential cookie to keep you signed in. It is strictly necessary for the account area to work, it is not used to track you, and it exists for no other purpose, which is why there is no cookie banner: there is nothing optional to consent to.

Our hosting infrastructure keeps standard, short-lived server logs (IP address, user agent, requested URL) for security and operational purposes only. These logs are rotated automatically and are not used to profile visitors.

If you buy directly from us

Payment is processed by Stripe. Your card details go to Stripe and never reach our servers; we receive only a confirmation, the amount, and a reference to the transaction.

We create an account for the email address you paid with, and store: that email address, the purchase record, a hash of your licence key (never the key itself: we cannot recover it for you, only issue a new one), and one row per activated Mac holding the hashed device identifier, the machine name and the app version.

We keep purchase and licence records for as long as the licence is valid, and afterwards for as long as tax and accounting law requires us to keep proof of the sale. You can release an individual Mac at any time from your account page or from within the app.

If you buy from the Mac App Store

Apple handles the entire transaction. We never see your payment details, your email address or your identity, and refunds are handled by Apple. No account is created here and we hold no data about you.

Email

If you write to our support address, we receive the information you choose to send: your email address and the content of your message. We use it only to answer you, and we do not add you to any mailing list.

Transactional email (sign-in links, licence keys, download links) is sent from our own mail server running on our own infrastructure. No third-party email provider receives your address.

Who else processes this data

We use a small number of service providers, each only for the purpose named: Stripe for payments, Cloudflare for content delivery and for storing the downloadable application builds, and Hetzner for server hosting in Germany. Transactional email runs on our own mail server rather than through a third-party provider.

They act as processors on our behalf and are not permitted to use your data for their own purposes.

Your rights

If you are in the UK, the EEA or Türkiye, data protection law gives you the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it erased, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable form.

Where we hold data, we do so to perform the contract you entered into when you bought the software, and to meet our legal record-keeping obligations. We do not rely on consent for anything, because we do nothing optional with your data.

To exercise any of these rights, write to [email protected]. We answer personally. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Data sharing and sale

We do not sell, rent or share personal information with third parties, and we never will. The only disclosures are to the processors named above, and to authorities where the law requires it.

Children

Astrolize and this website are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Material changes will be noted in the app release notes as well.
