Electional and chart search

Search supported date ranges and chart conditions with the available tools.

On this page (3 sections)

Electional Search scans moments in a date range, while Chart Search evaluates the selected chart. Use Iris Vale's chart to make the distinction concrete: search October 2026 for Sun in Libra, then test Sun in Aries against her natal chart. A positive result means the specified condition matched, not that the time guarantees a favorable outcome.

Search October for Sun in Libra

Electional Search with Sun in Libra and 529 matching hourly moments in October.

Choose Electional Search in Predictive. Search Criteria shows Combine set to AND, with Type Planet in Sign, Planet Sun and Sign Libra. NOT is a separate switch, so check it before adding the condition. The example chip reads Sun in Libra. Below it, the range runs from 1 October 2026 at 12:00 to 31 October at 12:00, with Step 1 hr, Lat 51.51 and Lon -0.13.

  1. Set Planet in Sign, Sun and Libra, then choose Add.

  2. Check the Sun in Libra chip and leave NOT off for this example.

  3. Set the October range, Step and coordinates, then choose Search or press Command-Return.

Test Iris's natal chart instead

Chart Search showing Seesaw pattern and a successful Sun in Aries criterion.

The electional capture returns 529 matching moments, beginning at noon on 1 October. These are sampled hourly moments, not 529 separate promises or exact transition times. Now open Chart Search in Tools. Detected Patterns describes Iris's Chart Shape as Seesaw, Two opposing planet groups, and lists T-Squares. In Criteria Builder, choose Planet in Sign, Sun and Aries, then Add Criterion and Evaluate. Criteria Match, Sun in Aries confirms the condition for this selected natal chart; it does not rerun the October range search.
